Mindfully Becoming Trimmer

Have you ever thought how great it would be if you could get trimmer when actually doing something else - like running errands, for example or just standing on your feet? Huh, wouldn’t that be nice?  Even more so if you have kids that keep you occupied all day or you work yourself to a frazzle. Well hang in there, my friend, I might just have an answer for you.

MTBVisual awareness of funky looking shoes on thick rocker soles is spreading pretty rapidly. They seem stylishly challenged yet the trend is growing with names bigger and smaller trying to imitate the original - MBT that is. MBT stands for Masai Barefoot Technology and thanks to its Swiss engineered sole it can increase your lower body muscle activity anywhere from 9% - 38%, depending on the particular muscle group and whether walking or standing.  How does it work?  Well, the shoe is built to put you in a state of natural instability which involves a plethora of muscles not used when wearing traditional footwear.  Even when standing, one must continue to engage their muscles in order to stay up. MBT also allows those with more tender joints to get back to walking for exercise or even light jogging. If I were to compare how it feels to wear the shoes I would say it is probably like walking barefoot on sand, maybe even at a gentle incline. How is that for a workout? Click here to see how muscle activity is increased when wearing MBT.

What truly sets MBT apart from competition is an overall value it represents. With a price of just over $200, longevity of the shoe is no doubt very important. Based on my experience I would say that MBT’s hold up pretty good without losing any of their benefits for much longer than traditional sneaker/athletic shoe. Even better, though, you can re-sole them if you feel the sensor built in the sole has worn out. There is also a long list of clinical benefits others might only grind their teeth about.

Following is a sample and much abbreviated list of conditions MBT may help you with:

Scoliosis, Plantar fasciitis, Ankle fusion, Metatarsalgia, Knee joint instability, IT band syndrome, etc.

If you are still in need for additional information, you might want to read some of the reports available at MBT website at www.us.mbt.com. If you prefer to base your opinion on who wears them, I would have to mention Quentin Tarantino, Mark Steines, a co-host of Entertainment Tonight, and in the world of professional football, Dr. Mike Miller, the Chiropractic Physician of the New England Patriots.  Along with Dr. Miller, the Strength Coach of the St. Louis Cardinals is also a fan of MBT. You too, can start mindfully becoming trimmer just standing on your feet, running errands, or if you do have time go with your family or friends for a truly beneficial walk down the new Greenway in Forsyth, Big Creek Trail.
